The latest story trailer for SWTOR's Legacy of the Sith features Darth Malgus' terrifying monologue to cinematic footage of the upcoming cutscene. Centered on power and victory, his speeches highlighted the flawed ideology of the Jedi and Sith. Margus' reluctance to join either side presents a fundamental argument against both loyalties, and he intends to destroy one. Malgus' rhetoric suggests that he has moved beyond the labels used by the Republic and the Sith, and instead plans to Buy SWTOR Credits that dictates a "survival of the fittest" mentality. The Force Users threaten to burn down the galaxy, and only those who remain will survive in his new order.
If Darth Margos threatened to destroy the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire in SWTOR, he would likely have acquired the means to do so or planned to gain the necessary powers. The villain appears to have walked out of an ancient Sith temple whose owner has disappeared from the historical record for radical ideals and forbidden abilities. In SWTOR's Legacy of the Sith expansion, Darth Margus may collect relics or learn new techniques from Sith who share his views, and will likely formulate his vision for the Republic and Empire, or against the player himself.
Star Wars: The Old Republic's presence outside of the canon allows BioWare to explore villains like Darth Malgus and craft unique standalone stories. Many details about Legacy of the Sith likely won't be revealed until after the expansion, which was delayed to the last minute last December.
