What are the main types of industrial compactors?

There isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. The right compactor depends on the type and volume of waste your business generates. The most common types include:

    • Stationary Compactors: These are the workhorses of the industry. They consist of a separate machine and a detachable container. Waste is compacted directly into the container, which is then hauled away by a roll-off truck. They are ideal for businesses generating large volumes of mixed waste, like distribution centers or large retailers.

    • Self-Contained Compactors: In these units, the compactor mechanism and the waste container are one sealed piece. This design is perfect for compacting wet or messy waste, such as food scraps from restaurants, hotels, or hospitals, as the seal prevents liquids (leachate) from leaking out during the compaction process.

    • Vertical Compactors: Designed for smaller spaces and lower volumes, these machines load from the front and compact waste vertically. They are often used in smaller retail stores, apartment buildings, or offices where a large stationary compactor isn't feasible.
