Are Whipped Cream Chargers Considered Prohibited Items?

Whipped cream chargers are not classified as prohibited items. These chargers typically contain nitrous oxide (N₂O), which does not react with cream, making it safe for culinary use.

In contrast, soda chargers are filled with carbon dioxide (CO₂). When CO₂ comes into contact with the water content in cream, it forms carbonic acid, a weak acid that can negatively affect the cream’s texture and quality. Cream exposed to acid tends to curdle or form flakes, especially in the case of dairy-based (animal) cream.

Therefore, it is not recommended to mix the two types of chargers. If you really have no other option, CO₂ soda chargers can be used temporarily with non-dairy (plant-based) cream, but should not be used with animal cream, as it will spoil the consistency and taste.
