Wood-plastic composite flooring, with its numerous advantages such as combining the beauty of wood and the durability of plastic, is becoming increasingly popular and is widely used in various spaces like homes and commercial establishments. However, to ensure that it can maintain a good condition for a long time and perform at its best, proper maintenance and care are essential. The following are some key points regarding the maintenance and care of wood-plastic composite flooring:

    1. Daily Cleaning

Daily cleaning is the foundation for keeping the wood-plastic composite flooring clean and tidy.

    • Sweeping Away Dust and Debris:
      • Use a soft broom or a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush head to sweep the floor every day, promptly removing surface dust, hair, debris, and other impurities. This can prevent these tiny particles from scratching the floor surface when people walk on it.
    • Wiping Away Stains:
      • For general stains such as footprints and water marks, simply wipe them gently with a damp mop or cloth. Be sure to wring out the mop or cloth until it is no longer dripping to avoid excessive water remaining on the floor. Although wood-plastic composite flooring has a certain degree of moisture resistance, long-term water accumulation can still cause damage to it.
      • If you encounter more stubborn stains such as oil stains or ink marks, you can dip a small amount of mild cleaner (such as a diluted solution of neutral dishwashing liquid) on a cloth and then gently wipe the stained area. After that, wipe it clean with clear water to ensure that all cleaner residues are completely removed.

    2. Avoiding Scratches from Sharp Objects

Although wood-plastic composite flooring is relatively durable, sharp objects can still cause obvious scratches on its surface, affecting its appearance and service life.

    • When arranging furniture, try to attach soft protective pads, such as rubber pads or felt pads, to the parts of the furniture legs that come into contact with the floor. This can reduce the risk of friction and scratching when moving the furniture.
    • Avoid walking on the floor with shoes that have sharp heels, especially high heels or shoes with metal studs. If this situation occurs frequently, it is advisable to prepare a pair of indoor slippers at the entrance and change into them when entering the indoor area.

    3. Moisture and Waterproof Treatment

Although wood-plastic composite flooring has a certain ability to resist moisture, excessive moisture can still have an adverse effect on it. Therefore, special attention should be paid to moisture-proof and waterproof measures.

    • Keeping the Indoor Area Dry:
      • Pay attention to controlling the indoor humidity. During humid seasons such as the rainy season or the plum rain season, you can use a dehumidifier to reduce the indoor humidity and keep it within an appropriate range (generally recommended between 40% and 60%).
      • Avoid placing wet items such as wet mops and wet towels directly on the floor. If water accidentally spills on the floor, wipe it dry immediately with a dry cloth.
    • Preventing Water Leakage:
      • For areas such as kitchens and bathrooms where water is likely to accumulate or leakage may occur, ensure that proper waterproof treatment is done during the installation of the flooring, such as installing waterproof thresholds and sealing strips, to prevent water from leaking into the floor area.
      • If a water pipe bursts or other unexpected water leakage occurs at home, deal with the leakage problem promptly and clean up the water on the floor as soon as possible. If necessary, you can use tools such as fans to accelerate the drying of the floor.

    4. Sun Protection and Fade Prevention

Prolonged direct sunlight can cause the wood-plastic composite flooring to fade, affecting its aesthetic appearance.

    • Reasonably arrange sun-shading facilities such as curtains or blinds. During periods of intense sunlight (such as in the afternoon during summer), draw the curtains or adjust the angle of the blinds to block the direct sunlight from hitting the floor.
      • For some areas where sunlight cannot be completely avoided by sun-shading facilities, you can consider using maintenance products with certain sun protection functions such as floor wax. Regularly wax the floor to enhance its resistance to ultraviolet rays.

    5. Regular Maintenance

In addition to daily cleaning and maintenance, regular comprehensive maintenance of the wood-plastic composite flooring is also very important.

    • Waxing Maintenance:
      • Wax the floor once every certain period (generally recommended every 3 to 6 months, which can be adjusted according to factors such as the frequency of use of the floor and the environment). Choose a qualified wood-plastic composite flooring-specific wax and follow the product instructions for operation. Waxing can form a protective film on the floor surface, increasing the floor's glossiness and further improving its waterproof, antifoulant, and wear-resistant properties.
      • Before waxing, thoroughly clean the floor to remove dust, stains, and other impurities to ensure the waxing effect.
    • Checking the Floor Condition:
      • Regularly (at least once a year) conduct a comprehensive inspection of the floor to check for scratches, deformations, loosening, and other conditions. If minor scratches are found, you can use special floor repair products to repair them; if there are more serious problems such as deformations or loosening, contact professional personnel promptly to handle them.

By implementing these maintenance and care measures, you can keep your wood-plastic composite flooring in good condition all the time, extend its service life, and continuously add beauty and comfort to your home environment.
