After 30 some odd years, people continue to brag

  • Part of your video game return to Madden includes celebrating Nike's iconic Bo Knows campaign. Rewind to Madden 22 coins the beginning. How did the brand present the concept about Bo Knows to you?

We came across Bo Knows accidentally. Writers, directors, sketchers -- we were sitting in a circle, looking over storyboards for our next shoot. We wanted to cut the length of the script because it was slightly too long. Everyone was giving their opinions about this or that. I asked, 'Why should we not do this? ... Then why would we not shift this to the other side, then put it here, join it, and cut out about five or six hours?' They glanced at me then said "Wow. This could work. A person across the table looked towards me with a smile and replied "Bo Knows!' It stuck. Nobody sat down and washed their heads or stayed up all night trying to think of the catchy phrase. It just happened sitting around the war table , discussing the latest news.

Prior to getting a signature shoe, it was Nike Air Bo Turf, in the year 1990, you launched by wearing the Nike Air Trainer 3, which was dubbed your shoe. What are your fondest memories regarding those shoes? Air Trainer 3?

So, let me present it like this. In 1969, when I was in the first grade growing up in rural Alabama in the winter it was in the mid-30s outside. And I had to attend school barefoot. Shoes were not allowed. I'm not saying this for empathy or as a sob story. However, I can recall my brother standing a block away from my house. The front door is open. Our sister was a blocks away from me,. my other sister was at the bus station. My sister, who was at the bus stop spotted that the bus was on top a couple of blocks away, she would shout on my second sister, who would shout to my brother, and my brother would yell to me. Then I'd walk to the exit barefoot. By the time my brother reached my sister's house, I would've caught him before he even got there. When we finally got to the bus stop I'm 15or 20 feet ahead of my brother and sister. From schooling barefoot in the winter of '69 to growing older and having the same sneaker as me ... I'm fortunate.

After 30 some odd years, people continue to brag about that shoe and collect the shoes. Just a few weeks ago an old friend of mine, Anthony Anderson, the comedian, he texts me, "Hey, Bo! I'm going to do a show with everything I wear in my shoes. I'm not able to find any Air-Trainers from you. I'd like to have a pair your shoes It just so came to pass that I had a pair sitting within my work space. I thought, 'Hey, I have the shoes here. You can send them to you. It's these moments that when I'm able to sit back and think, "Wow.'

It was during the NFL season New York Giants buy Madden nfl 22 coins running back Nike sportsman Saquon Barkley was gifted his own variant of the Air Trainer 3. What did it feel like to watch him pay homage to you through the sneaker?
