Historically, Borderlands DLCs focus on side stories rather than direct continuation of main plots. However, Gearbox may be breaking tradition this time. The Borderlands 4 roadmap already indicates new story missions and expansions scheduled for 2026 and beyond, hinting that the mystery of the Deodand, the Destroyer, and the coming war will continue sooner rather than later. Having enough Borderlands 4 Boosting can help you a lot.
For now, the saga on Kairos ends with both hope and dread-freedom from the Timekeeper's control, but a warning from the future that something far worse is on the horizon.
Whatever comes next, one thing is certain: in the universe of Borderlands, every victory opens the door to another vault-and another fight for survival.
The side mission Overwriting a Wrong in Borderlands 4 takes players deep into Dominion City's industrial district to help a guilt-ridden scientist make amends for his dark past. Terry, the man behind the Timekeeper's deadly fleet of drones, now seeks redemption by reprogramming the machines he helped create. This mission mixes combat, hacking puzzles, and exploration as players work to shut down the network from within. Here's a full step-by-step walkthrough explaining how to complete every objective, where to find each signal jammer, and what rewards await at the end.
Mission Overview
Quest Giver: Terry
Location: South of the Final Defiance fast travel point in the Carcadia District (Dominion City)
Rewards: XP, Cash, and a random Borderlands 4 Gear (Uncommon to Epic rarity)
The quest begins when speaking with Terry, an NPC who expresses regret for creating the autonomous drones that once served the Timekeeper. He plans to overwrite their core programming using a custom virus, but lacks the combat expertise to reach the drone factory himself. That's where the player steps in.
Step 1: Accept the Mission and Collect the ECHO-4
After initiating a conversation, Terry provides a device called ECHO-4, a custom hacking tool designed to inject the virus into the drone network. Accept it, and prepare to head to the factory complex looming above his position.
Look upward and to the right from where Terry stands-you'll see a grapple point on the nearby wall. Use your grapple ability to ascend to the upper level, then move straight ahead through the doorway to enter the drone production zone.
Step 2: Locate an Intact Drone
The first major objective is to find a drone that hasn't yet been activated. The factory's lower floor is crawling with Order enemies, loyalists still serving the Timekeeper's cause. Clear the area methodically to avoid being overwhelmed, using cover around the conveyor belts and storage crates.
Once the area is secure, search the left-hand side of the open factory yard. A deactivated drone rests on the back of a transport vehicle-this is the one Terry needs. Interact with it to begin uploading the virus through ECHO-4. Unfortunately, the process fails immediately. Terry discovers the presence of three signal jammers nearby, each one blocking the virus upload. Your new objective: deactivate all three.
Be warned-enemy reinforcements arrive after each jammer is disabled, so prepare for several firefights before moving forward.
Step 3: Destroy the Signal Jammers
Signal Jammer 1
Return toward the spot where you first entered the area. To the right, you'll spot the first signal jammer mounted on an elevated metal platform. Climb up and interact with its console to initiate the hack via ECHO-4.
Once the hacking interface activates, red triangle nodes appear above the console. Shoot each red node quickly to complete the sequence and disable the jammer. As soon as you finish, waves of Order soldiers will attack-clear them out before proceeding to the next location.
Signal Jammer 2
The second jammer is positioned straight ahead from the entrance, easy to spot thanks to the red lights glowing above it. Climb the stairs to reach its console and begin another hack.
This jammer adds a layer of complexity-ECHO-4 projects both red triangle and blue sphere nodes into the air. You must shoot only the red triangles to succeed. Accidentally hitting a blue node resets the process, so precision weapons like pistols or burst rifles are ideal. Once completed, another ambush of Order troops spawns in the area. Eliminate them before advancing to the final jammer.
Signal Jammer 3
The last jammer is located near the transport truck where the intact drone was found, but positioned on the upper level. Move deeper into the next chamber and look upward toward a platform above. Use the grapple point on the wall to climb to the upper walkway.
After hoisting yourself up, turn and head across the room. You'll find the jammer console beside a cracked window overlooking the factory floor. Initiate the hack-this time, there's no dialogue cue from Terry, but the process remains the same. Shoot every red triangle node that appears to finish the sequence and disable the final jammer.
With all three blockers down, the virus upload can now proceed.
Step 4: Hack the Drone
Return to the inactive drone on the transport bed. Interact with it again to restart the virus upload. This time, the ECHO-4 display projects a series of code nodes above the drone. Shoot only the red triangle nodes as before, but be ready-things escalate fast.
Midway through the hack, hostile drones descend from the rafters to disrupt the process, while another squad of Borderlands 4 Character Power Leveling Order troopers floods the floor. Focus on destroying the enemy drones first; if they survive too long, they'll inject new red nodes into the interface, risking a failed upload. Maintain situational awareness-avoid hitting the blue nodes amid the chaos.
