After receiving a less-than-stellar reception in recent years, the newest installment in the NBA 2K series, NBA 2K23, has already received positive reviews and appears to be a return to form for the series. The MyNBA mode is still the highlight of the series, as it allows players to completely customize every facet of the National Basketball Association and gives them complete freedom to express their individuality.
A player, of course, has the option to keep things straightforward by selecting a single team and working tirelessly to transform that group into consistent winners over the course of their career. There are some teams that stand out as superior alternatives on account of the talent that they possess or the potential that they have for the years to come.
Atlanta Hawks
It's easy to forget that the Atlanta Hawks were in the Eastern Conference Finals just a couple of seasons ago, but that was exactly where they were. Even though they did not in any way resemble that team from the previous year, picking them in MyNBA is still a lot of fun to do. Obviously, there is the opportunity to play with Trae Young, who was not rated highly enough the previous season but was selected appropriately this time around. However, with the recent acquisition of Dejounte Murray, they now have a second All-Star on their roster, and the chemistry between the two is sure to be exciting to watch. They are an obvious choice given the presence of other rising young stars such as John Collins and Clint Capela.
San Antonio Spurs
For nearly twenty years, the San Antonio Spurs have set the standard for consistency in the National Basketball Association. They began their run of success in the playoffs in 1999 and continued it through 2019, during which time they won five NBA titles. The fact that those times are now in the past for the franchise makes them interesting to use. Do you think you have what it takes to be the person who leads the team to its former glories? They start off in a difficult position, having just dealt away their best player in the previous trade. Thank goodness, there are still some pieces to build around, including a legendary coach and draft picks that can be used. The Celtics of Boston
On the other side of the spectrum are the teams that you select because you want to achieve success as quickly as possible. The Boston Celtics are a team to keep an eye on because they came so close to winning the championship last year but ultimately fell short in the NBA Finals. Jayson Tatum has gone from being an All-Star to a bona fide superstar, and Jaylen Brown is one of the best second options in the league. Both of these players play for the Boston Celtics. The squad has the ability to score goals, and they also have a strong defensive unit thanks to players like Robert Williams, Marcus Smart, and the newest member, Malcolm Brogdon. This team has everything it needs.
Detroit Pistons
Again, if you plan to play the game for a long time and appreciate the process of gradually improving your team, this is the squad you should select. The Detroit Pistons, much like the Orlando Magic, have a lot of high-quality young pieces to build around, but they lack a true superstar player at the moment. The former number one pick Cade Cunningham showed steady growth throughout his rookie season, Saddiq Bey scored 50 points in a single game during his senior year, and the newly drafted Jaden Ivey is an intriguing prospect. Kemba Walker is currently on the roster of the game, which means that you can trade him for draft picks even though it is highly likely that he will be traded before the start of the actual season.
