Diamonds are one of the most valuable gemstones in Old School RuneScape (OSRS), a staple of both high-level crafting and high-end item creation. They are used in various crafting recipes, like making diamond rings or diamond necklaces, or to enchant diamond bolts for use in combat. While uncut diamonds are more commonly needed as part of crafting, they are often overlooked in guides. In this article, we'll explore everything you need to know about how to acquire uncut diamonds in OSRS gold, including the various methods available, the requirements for obtaining them, and ways to make the process as efficient as possible.

    What is an Uncut Diamond?

An Uncut Diamond is a raw gemstone that requires cutting in order to be made into a more useful and valuable item, such as a diamond necklace, diamond ring, or even diamond bolts. These gemstones can be cut into different shapes, each with its own utility in crafting and other OSRS mechanics. Uncut diamonds are worth 1,000 coins in their uncut form, but once cut, they can be worth far more, depending on their intended use.

    The Importance of Uncut Diamonds

Uncut diamonds play a critical role in high-level crafting, used for a variety of valuable items:

Diamond Rings and Necklaces: When cut, uncut diamonds are used in crafting diamond rings and diamond necklaces, which are often needed for quests, achievement diaries, and other tasks in OSRS.

Diamond Bolts: Cut diamonds are used in diamond bolts, which are used in Ranged combat. These are particularly popular in bossing and high-level PvM (Player vs. Monster) content.

Magic: They are also sometimes needed for magic-related activities like enchanting other items, as diamonds are required in high-level enchantments.

With this in mind, uncut diamonds have both high utility and value, making them a sought-after commodity for players with the right crafting and mining skills.

    How to Get Uncut Diamonds

There are multiple ways to acquire uncut diamonds in Old School RuneScape. Some of these methods are efficient, while others require more dedication or specific in-game actions. Here are some of the best ways to acquire uncut diamonds:

    1. Mining for Uncut Diamonds

The primary method to obtain uncut diamonds is through mining them directly from certain locations in the game. Players with a high enough Mining level can mine uncut diamonds from rocks that contain gemstones.

    Mining Method:

Level Requirement: You must have at least 43 Mining to mine uncut diamonds from certain locations.

Location: The best place to mine uncut diamonds is the Shilo Village gem rocks, located in the Shilo Village area, which is a unique area that requires completion of the quest Shilo Village to access.

At Shilo Village, you'll find several gem rocks that yield uncut gems, including uncut diamonds, as well as other uncut gems like uncut rubies, uncut sapphires, and uncut emeralds. The gem rocks here are very efficient for mining uncut diamonds, as they are multi-gem rocks, meaning you can mine various gems from the same rock. The respawn rate of these rocks is relatively quick, making Shilo Village a great place for mining uncut diamonds in bulk.

Another location that offers gem rocks is the Lumbridge Swamp Caves, which can be accessed after completing the Digsite Quest and requires a 60 Mining level. However, the number of gem rocks here is far fewer than those at Shilo Village.

    Profitability:

Mining uncut diamonds from gem rocks is often the most straightforward way to acquire them. Players can gather a good quantity of these gems if they're dedicated to the task. You can also bank the uncut diamonds and sell them on the Grand Exchange for a profit or use them for crafting purposes.

    1. The Gem Stall in Karamja

Another method of acquiring uncut diamonds involves interacting with a gem stall located in Karamja. The stall is accessible through the Karamja region, located north of the Karamja Volcano.

To use the gem stall, you need a Thieving level of 68. After that, you can attempt to steal from the gem stall and potentially acquire uncut diamonds (along with other gems like sapphires, emeralds, and rubies). The loot that you get from stealing gems here will be added to your inventory automatically.

This method is particularly useful for players with a decent Thieving level, as it provides low-effort, passive income in buy RS gold addition to other gem drops. However, it's worth noting that this method is slower than mining, and you won't necessarily get uncut diamonds as often, as they are randomly rolled along with other gems.
